Everett Italia closed its first contract with “L'Osservatore Romano”, the official newspaper of the Holy SeeVatican City, "L'Osservatore Romano" is published all around the world in many languages including (but not limited to) Italian, English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Polish, French, with daily and weekly editions. Recently (July 2008), they also added a Malayalam (from India) edition, the first on non-Latin characters.
Everett Italia started the contacts with “L'Osservatore Romano” less than three months ago, by a working demo of Hippo CMS and a workshop conducted together with the staff of the Internet Office of the Holy See. Just after the workshop, Everett Italia was asked to produce a feasibility study and a commercial offer based on customer's requirements.
It was His Holiness Benedict XVI that indirectly started the project when, at the beginning of the year, asked the “L'Osservatore Romano” team to go to the Internet as soon as possible. Since then, “L'Osservatore Romano” started defining its requirements and finding a technology and a partner for this risky mission.
It was required to build the system on top of well-established technologies, to have a scalable solution and to define an interactive process that would involve all the documentation team. These requirements turned into a portal allowing to browse news, newspaper's archive and on-line subscription.
Everett Italia's proposal was based on Everett group's EVOLVE methodology and some well-known technologies like as Sun Access Manager, Sun Portal Server and Hippo CMS. |
